Bespoke joinery and furniture
What types of joinery and furniture does Solid Way make?+
We design and build bespoke fitted furniture, custom wardrobes, alcove units, kitchen cabinetry, shelving and interior joinery for residential and commercial spaces. Every piece is made to your exact specifications, with no off-the-shelf solutions.
Do you work on both residential and commercial projects?+
Yes. We work with homeowners, landlords, interior designers and commercial clients. Whether it is a single fitted wardrobe or a full commercial fit-out, we approach every project with the same level of craftsmanship.
Can you work from an architect's or interior designer's drawings?+
Absolutely. We regularly collaborate with architects and designers and can work directly from technical drawings, mood boards or detailed briefs.
From first contact to fitting
How does the process work from first contact to completion?+
It starts with an initial consultation, either on-site or via photos and measurements, where we understand your vision and requirements. We then produce a detailed quote. Once approved, we move to design, production in our workshop and installation, keeping you informed at every stage.
Do you offer an in-home consultation?+
Yes. For most projects, we arrange a site visit to take precise measurements, assess the space and discuss materials and finishes in person. This helps ensure the final piece fits perfectly.
Will I see the design before production starts?+
Yes. We provide detailed drawings or renders for approval before any materials are cut. Nothing goes into production until you are happy with the design.
Lead times and booking
How long does a bespoke joinery project take?+
Timelines vary depending on complexity and our current workload. Smaller projects, such as a fitted wardrobe, typically take 3-5 weeks from order to installation. Larger or more complex commissions may take 6-12 weeks, and we will give you a specific timeline at the quoting stage.
How far in advance should I book?+
We recommend getting in touch as early as possible. Our slots fill up, particularly in the lead-up to summer and the new year. Enquiring 6-8 weeks before your ideal start date is a good rule of thumb.
Materials, colours and build
What materials do you use?+
We work with a wide range of materials including solid hardwoods such as oak, walnut and ash, as well as high-quality plywoods, MDF and bespoke painted or lacquered finishes. We will recommend the right material based on your project, budget and aesthetic preferences.
Can I choose the finish and colour?+
Yes. We offer painted finishes in any RAL or Farrow & Ball colour, as well as stained, oiled, lacquered or natural finishes. Handles, hinges and soft-close mechanisms can also be selected.
Is your work built on-site or in a workshop?+
All our joinery is crafted in our East London workshop for precision and quality control. It is then installed on-site by our own team, not subcontractors.
Quotes, value and deposits
How much does bespoke joinery cost?+
Every project is unique, so we do not publish fixed prices. As a guide, bespoke fitted furniture starts from around £X,XXX depending on size, materials and complexity. We provide a detailed, itemised quote so you know exactly what you are paying for, with no hidden costs.
Why is bespoke joinery more expensive than flat-pack alternatives?+
Bespoke joinery is designed to last decades, not years. It is built to your exact space, uses higher-quality materials and is installed by skilled craftspeople. The value is in fit, durability and a piece that genuinely adds to your home and its resale value.
Do you require a deposit?+
Yes. We typically require a deposit to secure your slot and cover materials, with the balance due upon completion. Full payment terms are outlined in your quote.
Where we work
Where are you based and what areas do you cover?+
Solid Way is based in East London, Barking IG11. We work across London and into the surrounding home counties. Get in touch to confirm coverage for your area.
Do you work outside London?+
For larger projects, yes. Contact us with your location and project details and we will let you know if we can accommodate you.
Enquiries and quoting
How do I get a quote?+
Fill in our enquiry form with your project type, rough dimensions, preferred timeline and budget range. We will get back to you within 1-2 business days to arrange a consultation.
What information should I have ready before enquiring?+
The more detail the better, including room dimensions, photos of the space, reference images and a rough idea of your budget. You do not need exact measurements at this stage; that is what the consultation is for.
